PRESS: Jessie Buckley Gets Three Nominations At 2020 IFTA Awards

Jessie Buckley looks set for success at the Irish Film and Television Academy Awards (IFTAs) after landing three nominations on Tuesday.

The Beast” star and “Calm With Horses” actress Niamh Algar bagged the most nods in IFTA’s acting categories too, with Jessie nominated for leading actress in both a film and drama for “Wild Rose” and “The Woman in White“, and also landing a supporting actress in a drama nod for “Chernobyl“.

Niamh will compete against Jessie in two categories, with her performance in “Pure” earning her a supporting actress in a drama nomination, and her leading role in TV drama “The Virtues” also receiving recognition. Her performance in “Calm With Horses” also bagged her a nod for supporting actress in the film section.

Another notable nominee is Saoirse Ronan for “Little Women“, who will compete against Jessie, Aisling Franciosi (“The Nightingale”), Bronagh Gallagher (“A Bump Along the Way“), Sarah Greene (“Rosie”), and Seana Kerslake (“The Hole in the Ground“) for the leading actress in a film prize.

Organisers are currently finalising plans for a bespoke virtual 2020 Awards Ceremony scheduled for September.


Jessie attends the EE British Academy Film Awards

Jessie attended the EE British Academy Film Awards at Royal Albert Hall today in London, England. She was nominated in the Leading Actress category for Wild Rose, but, unfortunately, didn’t win. The award went to her friend Renée Zellweger for her performance in Judy, who spoke beautiful words to Jessie in her speech. Jessie also performed the song “Glasgow (No Place Like Home)” and was acclaimed both at the awards and on social media. Check out the photos and videos below:

Jessie attends the 40th Annual London Critics’ Circle Film Awards

Jessie attended the 40th Annual London Critics’ Circle Film Awards at The May Fair Hotel yesterday in London, England. Wild Rose was nominated in the following categories: British/Irish Film (The Attenborough Award), British/Irish Actress and Breakthrough British/Irish Filmmaker (The Philip French Award). Unfortunately, the film didn’t win either category, but Jessie took the stage to receive Renée Zellweger‘s Actress of the Year Award for Judy. Jessie attends the 25th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards

Jessie attended the 25th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards at Barker Hangar on January 12, 2020 in Santa Monica, California. Wild Rose was nominated in the Best Song category – which ended up winning alongside Rocketman‘s (I’m Gonna) Love Me Again – and Jessie represented the team behind the film and the music at the event.
